What if the accusation against you is partly true?
You messed up. You knew better. Maybe you even promised yourself—or God—that you wouldn’t do it again.
So when that failure comes back to mind, how do you know whether God is convicting you… or whether the enemy is using something true to convince you of something God never said?
In Part 3 of Behind Enemy Lines, we’re looking at accusation.
Scripture calls Satan “the accuser,” and in this episode, we’re asking a question we may not consider often enough:
What is accusation actually trying to accomplish?
Through Peter’s denial of Jesus and his restoration in John 21, we’ll see that the enemy doesn’t always need to manufacture evidence against us. Sometimes the failure really happened.
The strategy may be in convincing us what that failure means.
I failed becomes I’m a failure.
I need to change becomes I’ll never change.
And before long, something we did begins determining what we believe God can still do with us.
But Peter’s story shows us something different.
Jesus knew exactly what Peter had done—and still called him forward.
So maybe one of the best questions we can ask when we're trying to distinguish conviction from accusation is:
Where is this taking me?
