What Are You Going To Do About It? - Episode 9

What Are You Going To Do About It? - Episode 9

Encouragement moves from comfort to action in this bold, faith-stirring episode. If God has been nudging you toward something new, this question helps you take your next step with courage.

You’ve prayed. You’ve waited. You’ve even been encouraged.

But now… what are you going to do about it?

At some point, faith has to move from feeling to following.

In this week’s episode, Melissa shares a deeply personal story about how God called her to start this very podcast—before she had any experience, equipment, or clear plan. It’s a message about doing it afraid, trusting when you can’t see the outcome, and choosing obedience over hesitation.

Through James 1:22 and the story of the woman who reached out to touch Jesus’ cloak, this episode reminds us that miracles don’t happen in the waiting—they happen in the moving.

If you’ve been praying for direction or clarity, this one’s for you. It’s time to stop asking when and start asking what now?

Encouragement for your spirit. Wisdom for your walk.

🎧 Listen now to pause, refocus, and rediscover the peace that comes from thinking God’s thoughts about you.

You've prayed,

you've waited,

you've been encouraged.

But now what are you going to do about it?

Because at some point, faith stops being a thought and becomes a step.

Welcome to my question for you.

I'm Melissa, and each week, we slow down just long enough to listen for one honest question that helps us reconnect with God's heart and respond in faith.

So this week,

my question for you is this.

What are you going to do about it?

Because encouragement is beautiful,

but it was never meant to end with comfort.

Encouragement was meant to awaken something in you,

to call your faith off the sidelines and into the story God's been writing all along.

For years, I prayed the same prayer that I'm sure we all have prayed at some point,

God, show me my purpose.

Reveal my gifts. Help me understand what you created me to do.

And I remember my husband would always say to me that my voice is my gift.

And I heard that I received it. But I always felt like it needed to be something more. Like my gift had to be bigger or more obvious. And I really struggled with that because I thought it just wasn't enough, that that couldn't be a real gift, and how could I use it for God?

But I listened, I received it. And I remember thinking, okay, maybe I'll do voiceovers. Maybe that's something good that I could do. On the side, I felt like I did have a good enough voice, but that didn't seem to me, like, how do I make the connection between that and God?

Um, but anyway, that sounded safe. It seemed easy enough to do, and it felt pretty logical for me to use my voice that way.

But I remember during prayer, I finally got the answer I'd been longing for.

I heard God say to me, you're thinking too small.

Use your voice for me.

Start a podcast.

I laughed, like,

because I didn't even listen to podcasts, let alone know how to make one.

But somehow I remember I had peace about it.

I knew without a doubt that that was my calling, that was my purpose. And finally, it clicked. That was how I was supposed to use my voice for God.

So, with no experience,

no equipment, no clue,

just one clear instruction.

Start.

And I knew deep down that was God.

But as someone who likes to plan everything,

that terrified me. Because starting something without knowing how it would all work out,

that was not my default. Anyone who knows me knows I am not spontaneous. I don't do things on the fly.

I like details. I like certainty.

But God was inviting me to something deeper.

Obedience. Without full understanding Faith that doesn't just pray,

but moves.

So I did it. Afraid. And here we are.

Looking back, I realized something powerful.

Purpose often doesn't begin with clarity.

It begins with obedience.

Let's turn to scripture.

James chapter 1, verse 22 says,

do not merely listen to the Word and so deceive yourselves.

Do what it says.

That verse reminds us that faith isn't passive.

It's not meant to sit pretty on a shelf.

It's meant to move through you,

to shape how you speak,

how you lead,

and how you show up.

You can pray for direction all day long, but eventually God will hand you a set of instructions and say,

now walk.

See, reflection and obedience are both holy, but only one changes your life.

We talked about confusing hesitation with holiness.

We think we're waiting on God,

but in reality,

he's waiting on us.

God won't do for you what he's already given you the power to do through faith.

The Red Sea didn't part until Moses lifted his staff.

The walls of Jericho didn't fall until the people marched around and around and around.

The miracle happens in motion.

And that's what this question is really about.

Moving from praying to participating in your own answered prayer.

So let's go a little further.

There's a story in Mark 5 about a woman who had been bleeding for 12 years.

She had tried everything.

She was physically weak,

emotionally worn out, and spiritually drained.

But when she heard that Jesus was passing by,

she didn't just believe he could heal her.

She moved toward him.

The Bible says she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak because she thought,

if I just touch his clothes,

I will be healed.

You see, she didn't wait for an invitation.

She didn't need a sign.

She simply acted on what she believed,

and immediately she was healed.

Her miracle didn't come in the waiting.

It came in the reaching.

So again,

my question for you is,

what are you going to do about it?

What has God already told you to do that you keep postponing?

What dream keeps resurfacing even when you try to talk yourself out of it?

And what steps have you been afraid to take because it feels too big or too uncertain?

Let this sink into your spirit.

You don't need a perfect plan to move.

You just need a faithful yes.

If God said write it,

start typing.

If he said, go,

start walking.

And if he said, forgive,

start healing.

If he said trust,

take your hands off the wheel.

Your next level of peace,

purpose, and provision might be waiting on the other side of your obedience.

If you have a journal nearby. I want you to write this down.

What step of obedience is God asking me to take right now?

What fear or excuse have I been hiding behind?

What's one practical way I can show my faith in motion? This week,

let's pray together.

Lord,

thank you for speaking to me,

for calling me out of comfort and into courage even when I don't have all the details.

Help me to trust that you do.

Give me the boldness to move,

strength to endure,

and peace to know that obedience is never wasted.

In Jesus name, Amen.

Encouragement is the spark.

Obedience is the flame.

And faith.

That's the fire that changes everything this week. Don't let hesitation disguise itself as wisdom.

Don't let fear dress up as faith.

If God has already spoken,

it's time for you to move.

Not because you know the outcome,

but because you trust the one who does.

So when that quiet question rises in your spirit this week,

what are you going to do about it?

Let your answer echo through heaven.

I'm going to do it afraid.

I'm going to do it. Unsure.

But I'm going to do it with God.

Until next time,

keep asking,

keep listening. And remember,

God is already there, just waiting for you to move before you go.
