What Are You Waiting For? - Episode 7

What Are You Waiting For? - Episode 7

Have you ever felt like God gave you a word, a vision, or a next step—

but instead of moving, you froze?

Maybe you’re waiting for the perfect timing, a clearer sign, or a guarantee that things will work out.

But what if the waiting isn’t about delay… what if it’s about trust?

In this week’s episode of My Question for You, Melissa invites you to pause and reflect on one life-shifting question: What are you waiting for?

Through honest reflection and Scripture, she explores what it means to move in faith when God has already spoken—

and how to tell the difference between waiting on His timing and hesitating out of fear.

You’ll discover how moments of waiting can either build your faith or hold it hostage—and how obedience, even in uncertainty, opens the door to peace and purpose.

In this episode, you’ll learn:

  • How to recognize when fear disguises itself as “wisdom”
  • What Scripture teaches about stepping out before you see the full plan
  • How to find courage to move when clarity finally comes

Because sometimes, faith doesn’t wait for all the details—

it simply says, “God, I trust You… and I’m going.”

🎧 Listen now to find the balance between waiting with wisdom and walking in obedience.

Can I ask you something?

What if the only thing standing between you and the life God promised is that you're still waiting?

Some of us are praying for confirmation when God already said go.

We're waiting for open doors that are already unlocked.

And maybe, just maybe,

he's not the one holding things up.

Maybe he's waiting on you.

Welcome to my question for you.

I'm Melissa. And each week we slow down long enough to listen for one question,

the kind that brings clarity,

courage, and peace.

But before we dive in,

I want to invite you to take a quiet moment right where you are.

Maybe you're driving or sitting with your morning coffee.

Wherever you are,

I want you to let the noise settle for a second.

Give yourself permission to. To be fully here.

Today's question might stir something deep in you.

So my question for you is this.

What are you waiting for?

About six years ago,

I heard God whisper something that took root deep in my spirit.

I heard him say,

I have stored up great things for you.

Go get it,

man. Those words have stayed with me ever since.

And I was excited because I believed something good was waiting for me.

I just didn't know what or how to find it.

So I waited and waited.

I told myself that I was being patient,

just waiting on God.

But underneath, I believe it was fear that was keeping me still.

I wasn't waiting on God. I was hesitating.

And honestly,

waiting can feel spiritual. Can sounds patient. It sounds obedient.

But if I'm honest,

it was safer to say I'm waiting than to risk stepping out and getting it wrong.

I was afraid to mishear God, so I just did nothing at all.

And that fear disguised itself as faith.

You know, one morning not too long ago,

I was reading Psalm 27:14.

It says,

Wait for the Lord.

Be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.

And right there in that quiet moment,

I heard God say,

but I've already told you to go.

And I froze.

Because I realized I'd been using waiting as a way to feel safe,

when what God really wanted was my obedience.

You know, I don't know about you guys, but when I hear God talk to me,

and it hasn't been often, let me be clear.

It hasn't been often, but when I hear God speak to me,

it sounds like a command. It sounds like correction. It's not the loving, gentle God that we all seek and chase after and long to hear from.

When God speaks to me,

it's always like he's trying to get my attention or shake me or wake me up.

It sounds and feels stern.

And I know that he loves me and I know that he's taking that tone with me to get my attention and help me. But that's always the way. I hear God speaking to me is as if he is correcting me.

But here's what I learned that day.

There's a difference between waiting on God and hesitating in fear.

Waiting becomes holy when we don't yet have clarity,

but when we do,

when God has already spoken,

disobedience looks like movement.

We're meant to go when we know and wait when we don't.

That was the moment I truly understood.

This isn't my season to wait.

It's my season to move.

There's a holy kind of waiting.

That's the kind that trusts God's timing.

But there's also a fear based waiting,

the kind that keeps you stuck because you don't want to risk the next step.

We say I'm waiting on God,

but sometimes God is waiting on us.

If he's already given you the vision confirmed the direction and opened the door Faith Looks like movement Psalm 37:23 says the steps of a righteous person are ordered by the Lord.

Notice it says steps,

not sitting.

If you've been feeling God stir something in your heart,

maybe a dream, a change,

a next chapter.

Remember,

delayed obedience can still be disobedience.

Ask yourself, am I waiting with God or hiding from Him?

Faith was never meant to stand still.

As we turn to the Bible, think about Noah.

God told him to build an ark before a single drop of rain had even fallen.

Everyone around him thought he'd lost his mind.

But Noah obeyed anyway.

He didn't wait for thunder to confirm God's word.

He just started building day after day,

year after year,

trusting that God's instruction was enough.

And in time,

his obedience became the very thing that saved him and his family.

Sometimes faith looks like building when the sky is still clear,

moving before you see the proof,

trusting that when God speaks,

He knows why he's sending you ahead of the storm.

Maybe you've been holding a dream or calling that won't leave you alone.

You've prayed, planned and prepared,

but you haven't moved.

So let me ask you again.

What are you waiting for?

If God has already spoken,

this might be your sign to move.

And if you're not sure yet, that's okay too.

Keep listening,

keep seeking,

and stay ready.

Let's take a quiet moment together.

Ask God right now if there's something you've already told me to do that I've been putting off.

If something comes to mind, don't dismiss it.

That's the Spirit bringing clarity.

If you have a journal nearby, I want you to write this down.

What dream or calling have I been delaying out of fear or doubt?

What step of obedience is God asking me to take next and last? Am I waiting from faith or waiting from fear?

Here's a simple prayer.

Lord,

thank you for the promises you've spoken over my life.

If it's time to move,

give me courage.

If it's time to wait,

give me peace.

Either way,

keep me in step with you.

In Jesus name, Amen.

Friends,

sometimes faith looks like standing still,

but other times it looks like stepping out before you see where your foot will land.

Don't let fear wear the mask of wisdom. Don't confuse patience with procrastination.

If God has already spoken,

it's time to move.

This week I want you to pray boldly.

God,

show me my next step and give me the faith to take it.

Because obedience is where blessings live.

And when you move with God,

you never move alone.

Before we close, I want to speak this blessing over you.

May courage rise where fear once lived.

May clarity come where confusion lingered.

And may you take each step with peace,

knowing that every move made in faith draws you closer to what God has already prepared for you.

Until next time,

keep asking,

keep listening and remember,

the question you wrestle with today might be the one that moves you into what God has been preparing all along.
